The Trend That Shouldn’t Come Back
When it comes to celebrity style, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad and sometimes it’s well … awkward. Eyewear is no exception — especially sunglasses.
Colored sunglasses were more or less introduced to popular culture in the ’60s by style arbiters Yoko Ono and John Lennon. There was no turning back after that: pink, red, blue, orange, you-name-it shades continued to be inexplicably fashionable throughout the ’80s, ’90s and even through the ’00s. What was so unfortunate about the whole look was that it took what sunglasses accomplished (obscuring someone’s eyes to make them look cool and mysterious), reversed it, and instead made the wearer appear completely uncool and clownish.
It seems the trend has been retired–for now–so maybe we can all look back and have a little laugh? Or no? Do you think the trend should come back? Let us know in comments.
