How to Dress Up Your Denim Shorts

There’s no doubt a pair of denim shorts is one the most essential items in your closet. As with any type of jean piece (denim jacket, skinny jeans, etc.), denim shorts are extremely versatile and have unlimited styling options. Jean shorts can be purchased in the spring and worn all the way through the fall season. They’re the perfect grab-and-go piece to lean on for almost any warm weather occasion. Most people think of denim shorts as a casual wardrobe item, but they provide you with a base of endless possibilities. Try dressing up your denim! To achieve the dressed-up denim shorts look, you should follow two rules of thumb: Stay away from short shorts and always throw on a heel. A longer short length makes them more evening appropriate and the heel will instantly transform your look.

I dressed up my denim shorts by simply swapping out my flats for open-toed heels, opted for a fun clutch, and threw on a leather jacket to keep me warm. It’s crazy how heels and a chic jacket can really take your look from day to night.  To make it more glamorous and date night appropriate I layered two of my favorite necklaces. A little sparkle can take you a long way.
