Caring for Eyes and Glasses: Six Tips to Remember

Eyeglasses are a hot fashion trend nowadays as models in every fashion magazine, and actors in every TV show or movie found wearing it. The eyeglasses add value to the personality and make a person look different from the rest. Nowadays crisp and seamless designs define the eyewear style and trend. These frames can easily update your wardrobe and put some color into your lifestyle. Sunglasses can help you follow the trend of fashion and protect your eyes at the same time.

“With so many people wearing glasses, people are starting to use eyewear as an accessory to match their personal style,” said Kristin Bonfield, accessories product manager of LensCrafters.

The secret to looking good does not necessarily lies in buying super cool glasses; rather it’s the proper care habits that keep glasses look great for a longer period of time. Following are some guidelines to help better care for your eyeglasses.

1. Sparkling Glasses:

If you are wearing designer sunglasses but its lenses are dirty, or smudged then it’s of no use. Your personality will be ruined. Your image will be spoiled so make cleaning a daily routine. A spray bottle of professional eyeglass cleaner and soft micro-fiber cloth in your purse, car or desk drawer makes it easy to clean glasses. The sparkling sunglasses will boast your confidence and people will feel easy to approach you.

2. Use the Case:

The designer sunglasses come with the case and a cloth. So whenever you feel the need to take your glasses off put them in their case. Keeping them in a pocket or purse without case may put scratches on it.

3. Don’t Clean with Shirt:

According to one study, 52 percent of people clean their glasses with the clothing they are wearing. Dust particles in clothes can scratch lenses and grind dust and fibers into the lens. Disposable moist cleaning toilettes make it easy to keep your world sparkling.

4. Give High-Tech Care:

Today’s lenses are high tech, thinner, made of lighter materials and often have coatings that prevent glare or add other benefits like keeping your eyes cool, prevent harmful rays to reach your eyes. Using household cleaners for cleaning glasses will damage it. Even todays concentrated or “extra strength” dish soaps can damage coatings on sunglasses over time. Always use eye-wear cleaners that are specially formulated to safely remove fingerprints, cosmetics, dirt and grime.

5. Do-It-Yourself:

Removing paint spatters from glasses by chemicals or rough rubbing can easily damage the lens. Sawdust and plaster dust can scratch or get ground in during cleanup. So when cleaning the glasses do it yourself with extra care.

6. Regular Eye Exam:

Take time for regular eye checkup. Keep your eyes examined once in every three months.   You can have prescribed lenses in designer sunglasses.
